About the artist: Lezley Saar (b. 1953) explores themes of race, gender and mythology in her work, which includes painting, collage and multimedia works. The daughter of artists Betye Saar and the late Richard Saar and the sister of artist Alison Saar, Lezley Saar was educated at L'Institut Français de Photographie, San Francisco State and Cal State Northridge. She has shown her work at the California African American Museum, the Pasadena Art Museum, the Contemporary Arts Center (Cincinnati) and the St. Louis Museum, among others.
